Glad you enjoyed it Greg. It was certainly a departure from the norm for me and yes, it was a very refreshing experience. Not sure I'll make a habit of it but from time to time I will branch out a bit more as I did enjoy writing it and a change is always as good as a rest, particularly in artistic pursuits.
Your writing style shines through Al. If this didn't have your name attached to it, I'd instantly know it was yours. Your apprehension of publishing this story proves obsolete, this is true to life, a spotlight towards reality. A juxtaposition of hero vs hooligan and a brilliant one at that. It gave emotion throughout, the sad reality of a pensioners 'dull' stage of life, the slowing down, the simple things, the fond memories.. The end had a twist and a whole other set of emotions. I encourage you to persue these experiments and styles, you have a knack for it.
